The camera system is used today to map many different spaces including homes, rental properties, construction sites, commercial and industrial buildings, retail spaces and hospitality. Even spaces spanning a city block can be easily mapped.
The camera can be used outside to shoot panoramas, but will not always measure outside. You will be able to position outside panoramas on the iGUIDE only approximately.
You will need a tripod with a sturdy ball head and a tablet or phone (5-7″ screen size is optimal). We recommend a tripod like the Manfrotto MK190XPRO3-BHQ2 with ball head. This tripod is sturdy enough to support the camera. You will also need a Windows or Apple computer to process the data.
The camera warranty is one year for parts, materials and workmanship.
You can extract still pictures from fisheye images taken by the camera using Planitar proprietary software, but the resolution is limited to 1-2 megapixels.
Spatial data is collected with the laser scanner and the space is mapped while shooting panoramas and walking with the camera. The camera produces 3-shot panoramas by being manually rotated into three positions spaced 120 degrees for every panorama. Visit iGUIDE Technology Videos for more information on the process.
